In 1975, The Birth Control and Venereal Disease Centre (BCVD) noted the need for sexual health services for immigrant women to be provided in their languages. Carolyn Egan was at the forefront of seeking funding from Public Health to establish a clinic that would specifically meet this need, and so Immigrant Women’s Health Centre was created.
